The Club's monthly meetings are a key part of the PROBUS experience. They allow the Management Committee to provide updates, and they enable all members to catch up with friends (old and new), discuss upcoming events and activities and to generally participate in the ongoing development of the club.
Our monthly meetings are always held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to noon. There is a $2 charge for attending the meeting which helps cover the meeting expenses. Coffee will be served and members are encouraged to bring their own mugs.
Please note that as this will be our "1st Anniversary" as well as our 1st AGM (Annual General Meeting), after the guest speaker we will be offering a lunch (courtesy of Chartwell) and some wine and non-alcoholic beverages. So we do hope you can stay for this.
PROBUS meetings always feature a guest speaker and this month it will be Dr. Mike Daley
Mike and his wife Jill live in Toronto and he holds a Ph. D in music from York University. He is a musicologist, specializing in the history of popular music and has taught at Guelph, McMaster, Waterloo and York Universities. He has toured the United States and Canada as a musician with Jeff Healey and also featured on dozens of recordings as a guitarist and singer.
Mike will speak about Leonard Cohen's life and work, interspersing his narrative with classic Cohen songs.
