The Club's monthly meetings are a key part of the PROBUS experience. They allow the Management Committee to provide updates, and they enable all members to catch up with friends (old and new), discuss upcoming events and activities and to generally participate in the ongoing development of the club. Our monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to noon and there is a $2.00 charge for attending the meeting which helps cover the meeting expenses. Coffee will be served and members are encouraged to bring their own mugs.
PROBUS meetings always feature a guest speaker and this month will be no exception as Dr. Christopher DiCarlo will be presenting to us.
Dr. DiCarlo is a philosopher, educator, speaker and author. He is the Ethics Chair for the Canadian Mental Health Association and a lifetime member of Humanist Canada. As an educator, Christopher currently teaches in the Department of Biology at the University of Toronto Mississauga and at The Life Institute at Toronto Metropolitan University.
Dr. DiCarlo has been invited to speak at numerous national and international conferences in the past and has won several awards including TV Ontario’s Big Ideas Best Lecturer in Ontario Award and Canada’s Humanist of the Year. Finally, he is the author of several books including his best-seller: How to Become a Really Good Pain in the Ass: A Critical Thinker’s Guide to Asking the Right Questions and his latest book: So You Think You Can Think? Tools for Intelligent Conversations and Getting Along.
Please remember to wear your name badge.
This meeting will be in Don Beer Arena Banquet Hall, 940 Dillingham Rd, Pickering.
We will be trying something different this month. It will be a "Make a New Friend Meeting" based on random assigned seating - when you sign in you will draw your table # from a hat. A great opportunity for everybody to get to know some other members a bit better.
