    Our Next Speaker....

** UPDATE - Our March meeting is on WEDNESDAY MARCH 4 due to March Break**

Our speaker for March is Andrew Kirsch.

Andrew is in the Security business and served as an intelligence officer with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) for just under a decade.  Yes, he was a ‘spy’.   Today he is the President of The Kirsch Group (a boutique Risk Consultancy serving government, corporate and private clients); a successful author and a public speaker.

In 2022, Andrew wrote his memoir, I Was Never Here:  My True Canadian Spy Story of Coffee’s, Code Names, and Covert Operations in the Age of Terrorism which became an instant national bestseller.   With humour, honesty, and candour, Andrew shares his on-the-ground experience (or as much of it as he's allowed to) of becoming a member of CSIS: from his vetting and training, to his initial desk job as a policy analyst, to his rise up the ranks to leading covert special operations missions.  If you've ever wondered whether spies can have real lives, how they handle family responsibilities, or how they come up with cover stories or aliases, the answers are here.

He is now a much sought after Keynote speaker covering issues of national and cyber security for a variety of organizations and service groups.   Drawing on his book amd entertaining stories from his ‘career’; Andrew gives a rarely seen look behind the curtain at what Canada’s security services do, what it’s really like to be a spy, the threats he faced and the challenges to come.   He believes that we all have an important role to play in keeping each other safe.

Don't forget to register by clickiing here , you won't want to miss this one!

    Activities

One of the many benefits of membership is access to regularly scheduled gatherings of club members who share common interests.  Some Activities are seasonal, while others run throughout the year.

Providing a variety of activities gives members an opportunity to get to know each other better while doing something that they enjoy.  We currently have over a dozen such groups in our club, like euchre, weekly group walks, book and movie clubs, golf, trivia and much more.

Click on the header to go to the Activities page.

    Events

Our members enjoy a variety of social events.  Some local events include going to theatres and tourist attractions and visiting local restaurants for lunch or dinner.  We educate as well as entertain by providing trips to museums, historic sites and tours of local businesses and industries.  We come together annually to celebrate special times together like summer BBQ's and Holidays. These special events require advance registration and payment.

On this page you can also see details of multi-day trips and vacations organized especially for PROBUS Members.
