Our speaker for April is Randy Wilson, a prominent sound designer and editor for TV and film. His portfolio of successes includes highly successful shows such as *The Last Of Us*, *Wednesday*, *Dune: The Prophecy*, and *Everything Everywhere All At Once*. Plus. with over 32 years experience in the film industry, his accolades include a prestigious Primetime Emmy Award, two Canadian Screen Awards, a CAS (Cinema Audio Society) Award, and numerous other nominations. Beyond work, Randy enjoys sailing and creating Christmas light displays. Family is central to his life; he cherishes time with his wife, Skye, and their children, Luke and Alice. Randy's passion for his craft, hobbies, and strong family values make him a respected figure in the industry. The CAS award honors outstanding achievements in sound mixing which is the art and science of combining different audio sources to form a harmonious blend. This includes balancing vocals, instruments, effects, and ambience to create a captivating sonic landscape. It plays an extremely important role in movie production and Randy will be sharing all the tricks and techniques he uses to enhance our viewing experiences. above.One of the many benefits of membership is access to regularly scheduled gatherings of club members who share common interests. Some Activities are seasonal, while others run throughout the year. Providing a variety of activities gives members an opportunity to get to know each other better while doing something that they enjoy. We currently have over a dozen such groups in our club, like euchre, weekly group walks, book and movie clubs, golf, trivia and much more. Click on the header to go to the Activities page. | Our members enjoy a variety of social events. Some local events include going to theatres and tourist attractions and visiting local restaurants for lunch or dinner. We educate as well as entertain by providing trips to museums, historic sites and tours of local businesses and industries. We come together annually to celebrate special times together like summer BBQ's and Holidays. These special events require advance registration and payment. Our sincere thanks to the City of Pickering for their ongoing support of our Club | Durham Region Durham Region have prepared and issued an excellent Community Resource for Seniors & Older Adults Guide. Click here to view it. Discover Ontario’s Medical Expense and Senior’s Care at Home Tax Credit, PLUS a number of other personal and family related tax subjects. The Ministry of Finance provides many free webinars on many different topics like Estate planning, taxes for Seniors, understanding the Ontario benefits and credits for personal income tax, etc.. Attendees will also receive electronic handouts and get an opportunity to have their questions answered.
